Much of the existing documentation is scant on their sources, this is particular true for many of the histories, and irrelevant when dealing with Town Records.

An attempt is made in this effort to provide supporting documentation whenever possible. This includes links to other websites, and giving citations and availability information to those not on the web.

It also includes acknowledging the various opinions & contributions, even when they contradict the ideas of the authors.

This effort is basically a reconstruction of the history of Monson, with a concentration on some aspects which have been overlooked by previous attempts, such as the small mills, old roads & paths. It relies, not only on printed material, but on the lore preserved by local residences.
