Old Hospital Road 1844

Note that:

1) The Upper Palmer Road didn't exist beyond (North of) the intersection with Stebbins/Hovey/Warriner.

2) State Avenue nor Bridge St. (on the Palmer side) nor a bridge connecting the two, do not exist on this map.

What appears to be Hospital Road continues Northwest to Washington's Elm (the K-Mart area) and the County Road. Given its proximity to the Quaboag River, it probably is/was not the current Hospital road, but rather the road down by the power plant.

The State Alms House didn't exist before 1857.
